And let there be from you a community inviting to (all that is) good, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, and those will be the successful (Quran 3:104)

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

By the Grace of Allah, the ACT Association of Malaysian Muslim Families (AMMF) was established on Sunday, 17 August 2008, to benefit members of Malaysian Muslim descent, their spouses and families, who are permanently or temporarily residing in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and the neighbouring areas of New South Wales (NSW). A few associate members have also joined.

Over the years we have successfully organised activities actively participated by Residents, Officers of the Malaysian High Commission (MHC), Undergraduate (UG) & Postgraduate (PG) Students and their Families. Alhamdulillah, membership has increased from less than 20 members in AMMF’s first year to over 180 currently. Numbers do fluctuate from time to time due to new resident arrivals, departures and arrivals of temporary residents.

I would like to emphasise that we have not set ourselves up as a religious body to put pressure on individuals. However, being Malaysian Muslims, we cannot avoid being involved in some of the basic teachings of Islam. More importantly, jointly, we can provide each other the support that we need in times of emergency and hardships which can come to us at any time and in various forms.

AMMF belongs to all members. We welcome your input and suggestions for our future activities. It has become a very healthy cooperation among members when we are able to get Residents, MHC Officers, UG & PG Students and Families joining together in most of AMMF’s activities.

Do browse through our website from time to time to catch up with latest updates on forthcoming activities and view photos of recent activities. You can also browse through AMMF’s Constitution, contact Management Committee Members, read past documents, etc.

I look forward to your continuing patronage of AMMF as well as introducing new members. I welcome especially visitors to Canberra to get in touch with us.

Terima kasih dan salam mesra,

Syarifah Naqiya Syed Abd. Rahman
